Wishing you a Happy New Year!
EXPANSION is on my mind! And it’s no wonder that I was led to write about this as our year wraps up. I always pull Tarot and Oracle cards (see photo for this post) for myself as I sit down to write, and the signs all point to EXPANSION as the theme!
As an Astrologer I look at both the challenges and opportunities being handed to us from “above”–all with the purpose to help us evolve as spiritual beings on our very physical and material Earth.
The daily transits of the planets (some which move very fast, and others that move much slower) help us to see both the BIG PICTURE lessons we’re all here to learn (like the pandemic!), as well as the more personal karmic lessons we each get to experience, based on our own unique natal charts (our personal evolutionary journeys).
I’m positive by nature (I’m a Pisces after all!), so I want to offer us the Big Picture of Jupiter’s journey in 2022 and how we all can use it as fuel for our personal and collective expansion.
Let’s jump in deeper!
Jupiter is one of the outer planets and takes approximately 12 years to travel through all 12 signs. So, when it does spend time with one or two signs within a year it’s a big deal! In 2022, Jupiter will begin in Pisces, travel a bit into Aries between May and October, and then go back into Pisces before it returns into Aries (December 20th) once more before launching into 2023. So, EXPANSION (among other themes) is RIPE for those of us who primarily have either our Sun, Moon or Rising sign in Pisces and/or Aries.
Jupiter is known as the planet of Expansion. It’s like the Midas touch–whatever it touches it lights up with lucky breaks, opportunities for growth and success, travel abroad, expansion of our mind through spirituality and through higher learning, enjoyment of life and lots of fun, and communication and expression!
So, let’s say Pisces (or Aries) is in your house of Career (like it is for me!), you can expect the opportunities and lucky breaks (and all of the above) to affect and enhance your career and how you shine publicly. If you had Pisces (or Aries) in your house of Relationships, then you can expect new and exciting relationships and partnerships to light up your year! ETC. This is just one of the ways (and the most direct way) that Jupiter’s transit will affect you personally. Because our natal charts are so very unique and complex, there are a multitude of ways this transit can provide both opportunities and potential challenges which will affect each of us in some specific areas of our lives.

Now, let’s look at the BIG PICTURE of Jupiter’s journey for all of us.
Jupiter (very spiritual and idealistic) will be joining Neptune (which rules Pisces and the world of spirituality, mysticism, and dreams/illusions) in Pisces. When you bring these three influences together, the BIG PICTURE IS SPIRITUALITY and our connection to the “unseen” world and the Divine. Inside of us it becomes our INTUITION and ability to pull the WISDOM out from this connection– not escape into it, but use it so we can EXPAND in the right direction.
All of us will be called to GO WITHIN and share our DIVINE LIGHT with the world. The homework this year is to figure it out for ourselves and enjoy the process, which can be very cathartic and healing. This GLOBAL JOURNEY of expansion is taking us inside of ourselves–into the parts of us we normally can’t see or feel–or don’t want to investigate. A great question for us to ask ourselves is “What is Divine in me that I can learn more about, stretch, play with, and share with the world for good?”
Add this global journey to the one of Saturn in Aquarius and Pluto in Capricorn to understand that as a global community we all must work hard together to transform our ideas and structures of power, health, safety and success (at what cost?).
This is a big mission for all of us on Earth right now–to bring our Divine and unique gifts to help heal the world and rebuild the structures that support it and us all.
In Aries, this Expansion turns from WITHIN US to THROUGH US! Aries is the warrior on a mission. He jumps in with passion and purpose to drive solutions forward and get to the heart of the matter. In Pisces, Jupiter brings Alchemy and deep transformation, but in Aries, Jupiter brings the HEAT, the JUDGMENT and the Divine Scales of Balance! What has been out of balance and wrong must be righted! We take all of our inner expansion and bring it outward in very individual ways to create this balance in the world.
With all of this in mind, as we begin to dream the dream that is 2022, I invite you to go on this journey with Jupiter and be the change you wish you see in the world, and make sure to have some fun along the way!
